pathtojapan.com is operated by PTAYL. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect and why.
To understand which pages and materials are most useful, we use Google Analytics, which places a small cookie and reports aggregate traffic — pages viewed, roughly how long people stay, the country and device used. These reports are anonymous: we do not use them to identify individuals or build personal profiles.
What we collect
If you create an account, we store your email address and the details needed to keep it working. If you leave a comment, we store the name you provide and your comment. When you are signed in, our site also keeps activity records (when you sign in and out, pages visited, and automatic sign-outs after 30 minutes without activity) to keep the site secure and healthy; these records are retained for up to seven years.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing messages without your consent, and any email we send comes from no-reply@pathtojapan.com — never from anyone else claiming to be us.
Your choices
You may delete your own account at any time from your account page, and deletion is permanent. You may also ask us about the personal information we hold about you at any time.
Contact
Privacy questions are welcome at our Contact page. We will answer respectfully and promptly.
